SMASH MASTERS SURVEY REPORT MANY PEOPLE UNHAPPY WITH INSURANCE REPAIR WORKSHOPS FORCED ON THEM BY MAJOR INSURANCE COMPANIES

Belinda Pitts, General Manager of Smash Masters panel beaters in Melbourne stated a recent survey of their customers showed some people were not happy with their repair work done by insurance company owned repair workshops.

In the past car smash repair shops like Smash Masters would handle repair work for insurance companies when their customers filed an insurance claim. This meant the insurance company outsourced their repairs to third party (repair shops) who were independent to the insurance company. But now insurance companies want to cut out the independent panel shop repairer, keeping the cost of repairs to the lowest possible by controlling the whole repair process.

Belinda Pitts, General Manager of Smash Masters panel beaters in Melbourne stated there was a disturbing trend of insurance companies setting up and running their own car smash repair centres in order to save on repair costs.

Belinda encourages people to ask insurance companies if they can choose their repairer, especially if they have comprehensive car insurance and they are not at fault. If they find their insurance company doesn’t allow them to choose their smash repairer, then they should get insurance elsewhere.

Many insurance claim repairs done by insurance company owned workshops with disgruntled claimants get told by their insurance company to go back to the repair centre and hope they fixed it right the second time.
