On October 7, 2015, Dr. Gregory Finkelson, President of American Corporate Services, Inc. participated in an event held by Zibo Hanha Silicon Valley Industrial Park. Professor Stanley Kwong gave a presentation about Chinese investment in the U.S.

Over the past several years, Chinese enterprises have expanded extensively via Foreign Direct Investment. China considers outbound foreign investment a route for Chinese firms to move up the value chain, to counter falling margins at home, and to stimulate international trade between the U.S. and China.

According to Professor Kwong, China is undergoing a transition from “made in China” to “bought by China.” China has taken steps to increase international awareness of its local brands, to stimulate new technological innovations and to enhance the soft power of its local enterprises.  As Professor Kwong has pointed out, Chinese businesses have engaged in extensive international mergers and acquisitions in the food, energy, real estate and technology sectors. Many Chinese enterprises also have reinforced legal protection for their intellectual property rights against possible infringements.
