Back in 2011 and 2012, the EB-5 investment visa program had not received the recognition, either in the U.S. or in foreign countries that it has today. That does not mean that the program was not accomplishing its purpose.
Although EB-5 investments are popularly thought of in the sense of job creation, those investment may also fund approved projects that prevent the loss of current jobs. Such was the case with Country Home Products in Winooski, Vermont.
The company that was built on the invention of the Troy-Bilt® Rototiller was in financial trouble. It found its savior in 20 EB-5 investors who contributed a combined $10 million to support the retention of 200 jobs.
